Description
With a strong emphasis on modifications, body mechanics, endless options on how YOU can comfortably achieve the “why” of each stroke, this class helps you create slow, intentional sessions that support a variety of clients with complex pain patterns, scar tissue, or high stress loads—while preserving your own energy and longevity as a therapist.
Therapists will learn:
- Bony landmark recognition and palpation for visual alignment
- Single and double footed strokes with modifications with structural benefits to every stroke
- Contraindications and indications for bilateral, deep, barefoot massage
- Appropriate biomechanics to get deeper without death-gripping the bars
- Strap length adjustments for stroke variations
- Theory on sustained compression, fascial chain pathways, and compensation patterns
- How to use critical thinking skills to customize a 50+ minute session using techniques taught in class catered to the needs of individual clients during the Student Clinic
- How to synthesize previous and newly gained barefoot massage knowledge by working on other therapists and public clients daily
- The ability to seamlessly apply deep tissue, trigger point, cross fiber friction and fascial techniques utilizing their feet on a variety of vectors or angled directions of pressure.
- How to regulate up to their full body weight in pressure – as appropriate for that particular client.
- Pro-Tip To Prepare: Are you ready for this!? Experienced barefoot massage therapists can try these ashi-challenges before class with FasciAshi co-founder, Jeni Spring!
