Please read our Before You Sign Up For Our Barefoot Massage Training blog post.

At any time, you may read our frequently asked questions and contact us for more information on any topic. We are here to help you transition to a confident Barefoot Massage therapist. These guidelines are intended to support healthy boundaries for all parties involved.

The Center for Barefoot Massage Policies

Updated: 4/2/2026

Cancellation Policy

The cancellation policy takes effect once you sign up for a class. By signing up, your 50% retainer or full payment serves as your commitment to training, agreement to the Training and Use Agreement, and acceptance of the Cancellation Policy.

Because class participation involves receiving strokes from another student and the instructor, you must be healthy and able to receive deep tissue and myofascial bodywork. If you are pregnant, trying to become pregnant, have had breast, gluteal, or calf implants, undergone certain surgeries within the past nine months, are currently undergoing radiation or chemotherapy, or have any condition contraindicated for deep tissue massage, you cannot attend the seminar at this time. You are welcome to attend after you recover and when deep, prone-positioned massage is appropriate for your health.

Refunds

  • There are no refunds for the 50% retainer/deposit fee.
  • All sales are final for attended classes.

Continuing Education Credits

  • You must attend the entire course to receive NCBTMB CE credits. Partial credits are not available.
  • Any missed hours must be made up with the instructor at their hourly rate before access to post-class support materials is granted.
  • All attendees will receive a PDF diploma showing earned CE hours, date, location, and instructor. This serves as both proof of training and a CE transcript.

⚠️ CE credits provided are not “certification.” You may not use “certified” terminology in reference to your training.

Retainer to Reserve Your Space

  • A non-refundable 50% retainer is required to hold your spot.
  • If you cancel, all funds paid are retained by The Center for Barefoot Massage.
  • Retainers are non-transferable.
  • All prerequisites must be met 15 days prior to class, or your spot will be forfeited with no refund or roll-over.

If We Cancel

  • The Center for Barefoot Massage may cancel a class up to 14 days prior due to low enrollment (50% min at home base, 75% for travel classes).
  • If we cancel, you may choose either a full refund or transfer to another class within 18 months of purchase.

Deadlines for when Students Reschedule their Training

Contact us at info@CenterForBarefootMassage ASAP to make any changes to your registration dates. All tuition payments are valid for 18 months from original purchase date.

  • 30+ days before class: Reschedule with no fees.
  • 16–29 days: $75 roll-over/reschedule fee (waived for documented emergencies).
  • 3–15 days: 50% of retainer forfeited (waived for documented emergencies, but roll-over/reschedule $75 fee is applied.)
  • 2 days or fewer / no-show: All funds forfeited.

Fees

  • Roll-over fee: $75
  • Refunds beyond retainer: 10% processing fee

Tuition Pricing

  • Travel classes: If the instructor is traveling to a location to teach this class, rather than teaching at their home base, then the tuition rate may increase by 36%,

Travel Reservations

Do not purchase non-refundable travel until the class is confirmed at least 14 days in advance. We are not responsible for travel-related cancellation costs.

Training and Use Agreement

Training and Use Agreement By attending our training workshops, you are becoming part of our professional family! To uphold the high standards of our industry and protect the decades of work that built this curriculum, we require all attendees to respect the intellectual property of The Center for Barefoot Massage (CBM).

When you train with us, you are agreeing to the following:

  • Honoring Our History: You acknowledge that Jeni Spring is the original creator of this equipment and the first to introduce the suspended strap system to Ashiatsu barefoot massage in 2003. The design of the strap system, the mechanics, and the specific massage techniques we teach are the exclusive intellectual property and trade secrets of CBM.

  • Practice, Don’t Preach: We want you to use this work to build a thriving practice! You are granted a license to use our strap system and techniques safely on your own massage clients. However, you are strictly prohibited from teaching, instructing, or certifying other therapists in CBM techniques or any barefoot massage that uses a suspended strap system.

  • No “Reverse-Engineering” Classes: You agree not to develop, create, or teach your own barefoot massage classes or protocols using overhead bars, straps, or CBM curriculum. We rely on our highly trained, official CBM Instructors to pass down this work.

  • Keep Materials Private: Please do not record, copy, or share our course materials, manuals, or videos. These are for your personal review only.

  • The Consequences (How We Protect Our Work): We take the protection of our life’s work very seriously. If you breach this agreement by unauthorized teaching of our curriculum or teaching with our strap system, you agree to pay CBM liquidated damages equal to 90% of the gross revenues made from those activities, plus our legal fees. You will also lose access to CBM courses and our Sole Provider directory. We enforce this to keep our work pure and honor the dedication of our official instructors.

Participant Requirements

  • You must be a Licensed Massage Therapist, legally eligible to provide professional services. License status will be verified.
  • If unregulated, you must submit a 500-hour massage therapy transcript and proof of professional liability insurance (200-hour transcript accepted for classes attended in 2024 or earlier).

Scope of Training

  • This training does not “certify” you. You may not use that term in reference to FasciAshi training.
  • You agree to operate within the scope of your training and license, only using techniques taught in classes you have completed.

Media & Material Use

  • No reproduction, recording, or sharing of course materials is allowed.
  • Any use of techniques or content in media requires express written consent.

Consequences of Violation

  • Cease & Desist orders
  • Ethics reports to boards or associations
  • Revoked access to courses and support
  • Removal from Sole Provider directory

Liability Waiver

You release The Center for Barefoot Massage, LLC, its faculty, host sites, and associated businesses from all liability related to injuries, illnesses, or conditions incurred during or after training events.

By participating, you confirm that:

  • You are healthy and able to receive/give deep tissue barefoot massage.
  • You understand and accept all risks associated with training.
  • You hold the company and affiliates harmless for any claims.

You grant The Center for Barefoot Massage, LLC and its instructors permission to use photos or videos of you for lawful purposes. You waive rights to inspect, approve, or be compensated for their use.

You agree not to publish images/videos featuring your likeness without attribution and prior written consent. You release all content creators from liability for any claims arising from such use.

You confirm you are at least 18 years old and have the right to consent.
