Course overview: Your clients love the work you are doing on their backs, but when it comes to persistent pain, where it is, it ain’t… and chasing symptoms while stuck in a prone routine only gets you so far. FasciAshi Intermediate is our 2-day (16 CE hour) feet-on training created for licensed massage therapists who have completed Fundamentals and are ready to work with the body from every angle. Supported by overhead bars, suspended Ashi-Straps, and led by instructors who are actively practicing therapists, you will learn how to navigate the anterior and lateral aspects of the body in supine and side-lying positions… using precise vectors and slow, sustained holds to unravel full-body compensation patterns without wearing yourself out.

Description

This intermediate ashiatsu barefoot massage class empowers the experienced barefoot massage therapist to work even slower, maintain long sustained pressure holds on trigger points or adhered layers of tissue, and deliver deep myofascial strokes to the anterior and lateral aspects of your client’s body.

Supine and Side-body strokes will give you the tools to provide a comprehensive feet-on practice in the often forgotten, hard to reach areas of the body. We share how to work along the topography of our clients bones, and manipulate the length of each muscle and fascial chain.

Intricate use of the FasciAshi support strap is a big focus in this class. This unique addition to the overhead ashiatsu bars allows us to work on variable angles and vectors with consistent, controllable pressure that prevents fatigue for the barefoot massage therapist.

Class is 2 days, and you’ll earn 16 Continuing Education credits. (NCBTMB and some select states)

*If the instructor is traveling to a location to teach this class, rather than teaching at their home base, then the tuition rate will be $600

Therapists will learn:
  • Theory of myofascial barefoot massage pertaining to trigger point and sustained compression
  • Structural benefits to every stroke
  • Ashi-Strap work to help angle your pressure without straining your upper body
  • Contraindications and indications for barefoot massage
  • Appropriate biomechanics to save your body and working intricately
  • Detailed neck, chest, shoulder and arm work
  • Psoas, Iliacus, Obliques, Lats and QL work
  • Work for the Adductors, hip flexors as well as the deep 6 hip rotators
  • More detailed strokes using your strong toes, lateral edge of our foot, and your calves
  • Pro-tip To Prepare: here’s a video of our North Carolina barefoot massage instructor, Julie Marciniak, sharing her tips for side lying bolstering!
